Likes vs. Engagement… Do you know the difference?

Amateur Facebook marketers are impressed with likes and followers as if they deem a business successful. I hope your not one of them.

If you don’t know, Facebook is the biggest social media platform in the world but not the only one providing tools for business owners to leverage and analyze their success and I’ve found that most business owners are missing out because they don’t see the value that Facebook can bring to their business. The days of focusing on Likes and Followers are no longer. Your businesses success isn’t based on your popularity. It’s based on how many like and followers you can convert into paying clients.

Social media is now the new word of mouth if you didn’t know. Allowing you to gain global brand awareness at the click of a mouse. Are you really leveraging what many social media platforms have to offer, especially when it comes to business?

I’ve found that business owners new and seasoned would rather tag friends and family half to death to promote and market their services on their personal Social Media Profiles and that just isn’t going to cut it. Taking the easy way out is just out of the question, consumers are smart, and they are tired of being marketed to in that fashion. 9 times out of 10 posts like that don’t convert anyone. Facebook is smart as well, they are now looking for relevant content to share to the masses.

It’s time to get strategic and smart! If you’re in business, it’s time to start doing business like a business. First things first start with using your business page to increase your brand awareness and engagement. If you are depending on someone else to come in and save your business, you’ll be waiting a long time. No one knows your business like you do. It’s time you play an intricate role in the way your business is perceived on and offline. If you have a small audience so what, start with where you are and with what you’ve got. Likes and followers at the end of the day mean nothing if you aren’t actively curating content that is engaging. Become consistent and you will see an increase in engagement, brand awareness and ultimately an increase in your bottom line.

Stop over-thinking it and get started. Throw out what others are doing and venture away from posting purely product-related content and instead post things that are relatable but balanced, relevant lifestyle posts that encourage interaction between you and your audience. It’s important to remember that no business is the same so don’t get caught up in trying to mimic what others are doing. Remember that posting content that does nothing to capture your businesses brand and personality will not sustain engagement. Always be consciously aware of your target market and always post relevant consistent content that invites your audience to comment.

Remember, that building a fan base is important and engaging with your audience will establish and increase your brand awareness which ultimately creates a strong brand-consumer relationship which is the ultimate goal.​​
